Test pushed back

So, like I announced in email and in class, the test scheduled for Friday 8/23 has been pushed back to next week.  There is no point rushing through content.  If it is worth teaching, it is worth mastering.  Have a fantastic weekend.

Space is awesome!

Now, I know you are all thinking why would your history teacher make a post about space... well... SPACE IS SUPER OLD.  So, there that is my reason.  Anyways, my first link here is to a video and article from the BBC talking about the birth of a star... sweet eh?

Now number two would be, The 5 Coolest Jobs in Space.  Sigh, space cowboy is not on the list.

What would the coolest way to get there be, a space elevator?  Yeah... that would be the coolest way.  Until next time, - Mr. Kenny

Welcome parents and students, I must say we have had quite a week.  I hope that you are and your child are enjoying their courses, teachers, and brand new school.  If you have not yet, please make sure you post your contact information so we can have better communication with you all.

We will be having a test Friday.  Make sure you review your world map, 5 Themes of Geography, and geographic features.

And a random picture, because why not?

Hypatia, Ancient Alexandria’s Great Female Scholar

I was listening to Stuff you missed in History class and they brought up a great female scholar / mathematician that I had never heard of.  She is a great inspiration to our female students.  There we go, science and history going hand in hand!

Back to school!

Antikythera Mechanism - Maybe the first computer?

I recently listened to a podcast on the Antikythera Mechanism, an ancient device that allowed the Greeks to keep track of several calendars, eclipse predictions, and dates.  It was a machine made thousands of years ago.

This blog post does a really great job talking about it.

Here is the official site.
Here is a link to the awesome podcast!  Stuff you Missed in History Class (highly recommend listening to this all the time)
And of course, here is a crazy conspiracy video
